I paid a visit to a club north of Brisbane called Sport Aeromodellers Association Moreton Bay Region (SAAMBR) today to pickup a Radian Pro that I had purchase on RC Trader and thought I would take some photos to let you know where the club is located and what it looks like.

The club is located on Elizabeth Road, Griffin (north of Brisbane near the coast) and it quite easy to find.  It is a really quiet field and has a great field of view to all types of aircraft including fast aircraft such as jets and EDF.  Their website is www.saambr.asn.au it is worth checking out.

The setup is pretty much like all other sites with the pilot boxes and a nice recreation area for people to sit in the shade and enjoy a cuppa between flights.

I had the privilege to witness one of the members, Matt, and his friend flying a couple of EDF (Electric Ducted Fan) jets in tandem which was really great to witness.  The sound they made as they did a low pass and wooshed by only 2 metres from the ground was so similar to a real jet it was amazing !

I also was able to see Matt fly his eFlite ‘Beast’ which is not only an amazing plane but I have to say his piloting skills left me with my mouth wide in awe.  I got chatting with him afterwards and he mentioned how he and his brother (who did FPV with a quadcopter) took some amazing footage of the ‘Beast’ with the quadcopter at the field and, after finding the footage, it is some of the best piloting and FPV footage I have seen, check this out…
